Hornwort (Ceratophyllum demersum)

Hornwort is the best submerged plant to help keep algae growth to a minimum and is very winter hardy in the north.  Baby fish love to hide in the dense foliage. A great  plant that does not need to be planted. This is a fast growing plant that competes with algae for nutrients, helping keep the water clean and clear. This plant is also known as coon tail, has sturdy, hair-like foliage that oxygenates and clarifies the water. This plant does require some water circulation to perform well. It will not do well in stagnant water. Use one bunch for every 3-6 square feet of surface area or one bunch per 20 gallons of water for fish protection and to keep help keep water crystal clear.
